Getting a Hair Transplant in Turkey: What to Expect Day by Day

The medicine is the easy part; it is the unknowns around it that make people nervous. Who meets you at the airport? What happens on operation day? When can you go back to work? Here is the full journey, hour by hour, based on how a typical all-inclusive Istanbul trip is organized.

Before you fly: the photo consultation

Everything starts on WhatsApp. You send photos of your hair from a few angles; the medical team evaluates your donor area and hair loss pattern, then you receive a written treatment plan: the recommended technique, the estimated graft range and a fixed all-inclusive price. Only once you are happy with the plan do you pick dates and book flights. A small deposit reserves your operation day.

Day 1: Arrival

A driver meets you at Istanbul Airport and takes you straight to your hotel near the clinic. In the evening you visit the facility for your in-person consultation and blood tests. You will meet your coordinator, confirm the hairline plan and get your instructions for the next morning, usually including no alcohol and a light breakfast.

Day 2: Operation day

The morning starts with the final hairline design, drawn on and agreed with you in the mirror before anything else happens. Day 4: Flying home

A VIP transfer takes you back to the airport. You leave with a written day-by-day aftercare schedule, and your coordinator stays one WhatsApp message away for the next 12 months, with scheduled photo check-ins along the way.

The honest 12-month timeline

• Days 0-10: redness and small crusts form and fall away with proper washing. Most patients return to desk work within 2-3 days of arriving home.
• Weeks 2-8: shock shedding. The transplanted hairs fall out. This alarms everyone and is completely normal, the follicles remain and reset.
• Months 3-6: new growth begins, thin at first, thickening month by month.
• Month 12: the full result. Density, texture and hairline settle into their final form.

When to be cautious

Avoid heavy exercise, swimming, saunas and direct sun for 2-4 weeks. Follow the washing routine exactly as trained.
